Japanese bond rates have dropped suddenly as overseas investors pull back their cash, thinking that central banks will focus on inflation globally rather than credit crunch issues. Japan’s central bank cannot raise interest rates too much but inflation has jumped by 1.2% which is the most in 10 years. So, rates wont be cut here in Japan which maybe just maybe might lead to a more sustained relative strengthening in the Yen… which is good for me!
Macbook air exchange rates
April 26, 2008What is the story with Apple’s exchange rates? The basic Macbook Air costs approx $1800 US but costs 230,000 Yen in Japan and $3000 in Singapore (which is about equal to the Japanese price at current rates). So, the overseas purchase is about $500 US more! For the exact same thing!!!! Craaaaazy.
Soba Kichi onegaishimasu
April 26, 2008Sitting in a soba restaurant in Marunouchi looking at Tokyo train station. The curry soba set was very nice and might help to cure my hangover and exhaustion from the last few days…. Its nice to come to these very popular places after the main rush time of lunch, maybe 2pm. There are still plenty of people walking around but its possible to actually get a table! In fact its a new thing for me to have lunch by myself in a restaurant (soba or ramen) rather than go home at lunch time. Usually only costs around 1000 yen and its healthy. I don’t much feel like working too hard today anyway…. tonight and this weekend I am focussing on relaxing and maybe drawing.
Blogmailr doesnt work
April 26, 2008I tried to use “blogmailr” to email directly to my blog, which would be very cool, but it could not even find my blog! I was entering the right information and even added blogmailr to my list of trusted sites… so, unless they come up with a really good explanation I am gonna drop it.
