April 6, 2008

I thought I should note down some of the things I have learnt since living in Tokyo that might help newcomers, tourists etc  and possibly save your bacon!! Topics: 1. Airports, 2. Travel between Narita and Tokyo, 3. Travel between Haneda and Tokyo, 4.  Shinkansen, 5. Metro and JR trains, 6.  Taxi, 7. Bus, 8.  Bicycle, 9. Foot…   Read the rest of this entry »

Travel from Tokyo

April 6, 2008

I need to pack for my business trip to Australia and Indonesia, and that is going to be time consuming because I am going to be  doing so much socialising and stuff while away. I need to look good, man.

And, of course, need all my gadgets (tablet pc, tablet pc power supply, ipods, ipod charger, psp, psp charger, digital camera, digital camera charger, shaver, shaver charger, too many things).  But, the problem is I need to feel “streamlined” when I travel, I hate being bogged down with lots of bags: this time I am going to have a suitcase and suit-bag (with my SUIT etc in it, weirdly enough) and of course the tablet pc (probably the backpack) with on board junk.

But, I have a Super Battery and that works with my PSP and digital camera and can charge itself from the USB port on my tablet. Obviously, the ipods plus in to the tablet…

I do not use the airport baggage delivery service that everyone else uses – I am too afraid of not getting my bag at the airport when I arrive.  Maybe JAL has a special service for business class….  Once I am at the airport and checked in, I like to have very very little with me – basically ipod, psp, book, tablet pc…. because I am flying business class I will have power for my tablet the whole way, which is great because it means i can watch movies etc.

Lazy Sunday

I was going to go to Osaka today, by Shinkansen, just to walk around. It only takes 2 hours. But I stayed up late last night reading and trying to get the harddisk to work with ps3 etc, burning DVDs to clear off some of my junk, and so… no trip to Osaka.   Nice day today though, so I will go for a walk under the cherry blossoms, maybe take a book or a sketchpad, and waste some time.
